Rivers, dogs, camping and engineering defined Johnny’s childhood in rural Tasmania. The love of nature and awareness of calm that this brings is a deep driver for Johnny and his enormous passion for creating incredible experiences for guests at Luna Domes.
Having moved to the UK in 1998, Johnny’s business career has involved founding and co-founding companies in media, events, commercial property, renewable power, temporary structures, manufacturing, software and even a bizarre foray into aviation. Johnny is also a keen environmental activist, with a focus on access to clean waterways for wild swimming. To this end he purchased a river island at Warleigh Weir in Somerset to enable diverse people to access the British countryside and the stunning River Avon at no cost.
This diverse career has enabled a range of resources to be built that all led to co-founding Luna Domes.
“The plan for Luna Domes shot ahead when Dan and I were camping by the river with our kids. We mused over how we can give these wholesome, connected, inspiring experiences to people who are more used to luxury hotel accommodation. Domes, with their strong architectural heritage, integral strength, structural efficiency, and excellent aesthetic became the obvious choice.”
